What is Text2Event?
Text2Event is a web-based utility that converts a short natural-language description into a ready-to-use calendar event. Instead of manually filling out date, time, duration, and reminder fields, you simply type something like "Team meeting tomorrow at 2 PM" or "Dentist appointment next Tuesday at 10 AM with a 1-hour reminder" and the tool generates a standard .ics calendar file.
Key Features
- Text-to-event conversion — Describe the event in plain language and get a downloadable calendar file.
- Photo input — Take a picture of an upcoming event (such as a flyer or invitation) and let the tool extract the details. This requires a free account.
- Audio input — Hold to record a short audio clip describing the event.
- Reminders and recurrence — Specify reminder preferences and recurring patterns like "every weekday at 9 AM" or "every 6 months."
- Timezone support — Mention a different timezone directly in your description.
- Broad compatibility — Generated
.icsfiles work with Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, Outlook, Thunderbird, and any app supporting the standard format. - Direct integrations — One-click "Add to Google Calendar" button, plus Outlook Live and Microsoft 365 links. A Chrome extension can open calendar files automatically with your default app.
- Mobile options — Works on Android as a Progressive Web App (PWA) and on iPhone/iPad via Safari, home-screen shortcuts, or the iOS Shortcuts integration.
How It Works
- Describe what and when, or upload a photo or record audio.
- Generate the calendar file.
- Open the
.icsfile in any calendar app, or use the direct add-to-calendar buttons.
No registration or installation is required for text-based events. The service states that event descriptions are processed to generate the file but personal event information is not stored.
Who Is It For?
Anyone who schedules appointments, meetings, or reminders and wants to save the 1–3 minutes typically spent manually entering events into a calendar app. It is especially handy for quickly capturing events from emails, messages, or photos.
