OpenTrade

Open-source macOS trading harness that lets Claude Code and Codex agents trade and monitor markets autonomously via Robinhood MCP.

Introduction

What is OpenTrade?

OpenTrade is an open-source macOS application that turns Claude Code and Codex agents into autonomous market participants. It acts as a trading harness: agents can execute trades in a Robinhood Agentic Trading account through the official MCP connection, while you keep control through configurable guardrails.

Key Features
  • Real-time event monitoring — agents schedule themselves periodically or react to arbitrary market events through background scripts.
  • Multi-agent orchestration — delegate strategies and portfolio slices to any number of parallel agents.
  • Trading guardrails — manual or automatic order approvals, background turn limits, and per-agent order accounting.
  • Background sessions — agents keep receiving notifications and working even when the app is closed.
Installation

Download OpenTrade-arm64.dmg from the GitHub Releases page, drag the app to Applications, and launch it. An Apple Silicon Mac is required. The app auto-updates from GitHub Releases. You will also need Claude Code and/or Codex CLI installed and signed in, plus an authenticated MCP connection to Robinhood through your agent.

Building from Source
bun install # from repo root (bun workspaces)
bun run --cwd app rebuild # rebuild native modules for the Electron ABI (once)
bun run --cwd app dev # launch with HMR
Important Notes

OpenTrade is experimental software provided as-is, without warranty. It is not financial, investment, or trading advice. Autonomous agents can place and cancel real orders against a funded brokerage account, so you are solely responsible for configuring, supervising, and bearing the financial consequences of your agents. Trading involves substantial risk of loss. OpenTrade is built by Exla Corp and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Robinhood Markets, Inc., Anthropic, or OpenAI. The project is licensed under the Elastic License 2.0 (source-available).
