What OpenBudget Does
OpenBudget is a secure bridge between your bank accounts and the AI tools you already use. Connect an account once through Plaid, and your transactions, balances, and spending data flow directly into Claude, ChatGPT, Google Sheets, and Excel — no CSV exports, no copy-paste.
Key Capabilities
- Ask your money anything. Query spending, budgets, and trends in natural language through the OpenBudget connector for Claude or ChatGPT.
- Live spreadsheet sync. Transactions land in Google Sheets or Excel automatically, keeping the spreadsheet you already use up to date.
- AI-powered budgeting tools. Automatic categorization rules, item-level splitting of mixed purchases, and tracking for cards and loans with balances, APRs, due dates, and payoff options.
- Full financial picture. Track stocks, retirement accounts, real estate, dividends, and trades alongside day-to-day spending.
- Scheduled check-ins. Use recurring tasks in ChatGPT or Claude for morning spending summaries, weekly bill checks, and monthly cleanup reviews.
Security
Bank connections are powered by Plaid. Your bank credentials stay with Plaid and are never stored on OpenBudget's servers, and OpenBudget cannot move money.
