What is MixDesk X?
MixDesk X is a free mixing console and live-PA processor for macOS and Windows, built by Adelvo. It turns your computer into an audio-grade signal path — 32-bit float, cable-free capture, and up to 16 stereo output buses — with no account, no ads, and no Pro tier.
Capture without cables
MixDesk X grabs system audio or individual apps directly — Windows 10 2004+ via WASAPI Process Loopback, macOS 13+ via ScreenCaptureKit — so Spotify, a browser, a game or Discord each become their own channel strip. It automatically excludes its own output, so capture can never feed back. Physical devices (mics, USB interfaces, webcam audio, line-in) become input strips too.
The whole rack, built in
- Output buses: up to 16 stereo outputs, each with its own EQ, CLAP effect chain, 0–1000 ms delay and transparent safety limiter with gain-reduction metering.
- Effects: a real CLAP plugin host in every input and bus, with native plugin GUIs and plugin state saved inside presets. One click installs the free Airwindows Consolidated pack (~400 effects).
- EQ & analysis: 2/3/11/31-band EQ on every strip, a live RTA spectrum behind the bands, and one-click Auto-EQ that measures the room with pink noise and a measurement mic.
- System processor: DriveRack-style crossover, automatic delay measurement and alignment for multi-speaker rigs, a per-mic feedback destroyer, and a low-cut/rumble filter.
Real workflows
EQ your entire system output so laptop speakers sound right. Sync a Bluetooth speaker with wired speakers using per-bus delay. Route an EQ'd, compressed studio mic into Discord, Zoom or OBS through a virtual cable. Build separate game, music and voice submixes for streaming while monitoring a different mix in headphones.
Practical details
48 kHz float32 engine, 128–2048 buffer, automatic stream recovery when devices vanish or glitch, presets that reload at startup, tray/menu-bar operation, 9 UI languages, and signed builds for macOS (Apple Silicon) and Windows 10/11 (x64 & ARM64). MixDesk X is the successor to MDE — Mix Desk EQ and is part of the Adelvo family of media tools.
