LevelWalks Cryptogram Solver
The LevelWalks Cryptogram Solver is a free, browser-based tool for cracking cryptoquotes and monoalphabetic substitution ciphers. Paste your ciphertext, then assign plaintext letters to cipher letters until the hidden message emerges. Every guess stays editable, so you can undo, reset, or refine as you go.
Key features
- Interactive mapping table — assign letters and watch the decoded panel update instantly, with repeated words revealing consistent substitutions.
- Local assist suggestions — a cautious nudge built from letter frequency, common short word patterns, and a small built-in word list. It is a candidate, not a guaranteed answer.
- Worked example included — load a sample cipher to see how one substitution repeats across a quote.
- Privacy-friendly — the solver and its word list run entirely in your browser; ciphertext is never sent to a server.
How to use it
- Paste your cryptogram or substitution cipher into the input area.
- Start with one-letter words (A or I) and repeated three-letter shapes (THE, AND, YOU).
- Use apostrophes and double letters as structural clues.
- Request a suggestion when stuck, then verify it against complete words and grammar.
- Undo any guess that makes several words impossible.
Scope and limits
This solver targets monoalphabetic substitution, where one cipher alphabet replaces one plaintext alphabet for the whole message. It does not handle transposition, Vigenère, or other changing-key ciphers. Short quotes, names, and unusual vocabulary may mislead the assist, so human judgment still matters.
